Help ReconcilingWorks welcome the newest Reconciling in Christ (RIC) community: Immanuel Lutheran Church (Missoula, MT).
In sharing pieces of their story with ReconcilingWorks, Immanuel Lutheran recalls the journey of becoming Reconciling in Christ as “profoundly moving to see people transform their own viewpoint on full welcome” through prayer, scripture, study, and the incarnation of their queer, seminary intern. Sharing in song through the hymn “I Saw the Light” Immanuel unanimously voted to become RIC! In partnership and accompaniment with ReconcilingWorks, Immanuel looks to expand its studies, welcome statement, and commitment or partnership through the lens of their racial equity commitment by 2025.
Their welcome statement reads:
“Welcome! Immanuel Lutheran Church is committed to seeing Christ in everyone. We celebrate our human family’s diversity of sexual orientation, gender identity, race, ethnicity, age, faith history, economic status, marital status, physical and mental ability, and education. We are rooted and united in Christ and our growth is nurtured by acknowledging and embracing our differences. We invite all people to grow with us toward greater love, understanding, and mutual respect.“
