ReconcilingWorks is proud to announce our newest Reconciling in Christ congregation, St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Bellevue, Washington.
“St. Luke’s has a tradition of taking its name sake seriously, this is a grace community with a deep tradition of healing ministry. ‘Belonging precedes believing’ is a mantra that best orders our bias for Christian ministry. We believe everyone needs a Christian community to call home. Our Lord had a very simple directive for his disciples, ‘Follow me’. That is an inclusive invitation. The Holy Spirit can better inform our faith within a loving church that makes space for every stranger. St. Luke’s Board of Trustees unanimously recommended to the congregation that we could best serve our Lord Jesus Christ in this very diverse international community by becoming a Reconciling In Christ Congregation. In its annual meeting the church took that recommendation and voted unanimously, enthusiastically in the positive. Whereas St. Luke’s has long lived in an inclusive ministry with the LGBT community our joy is now making that a public confession.”
